if you didn't know its james mercer from the shins with dangermouse. who cares. not me. this album plods along. its a little bit like i am kloot doing a load of athlete songs. but then, near the end it bursts into life. mongrel heart is the best song i've heard this year. FACT. its like eating a packet of jelly belly beans and getting nothing but orange juice and lemon drops and then at the box finding a bubblegum. eating all that blandness was worth it in the end.
